Create A Great New Hobby With Nitro RC Cars
by Rob Stone
If you have never given much thought to Nitro RC Cars before then be assured you are missing a superb experience that can lead to a full hobby with both racing RC Cars and also servicing them. You could also find repairing them interesting as well as learning a load about both petrol remote control cars and nitro cars both outside and in. The skills you could learn can be used to get the absolute most from your own cars performances by adjusting small parts of your cars much like they do on formula one cars just on a much smaller scale.
Most people will find their way into the RC Car world when they are given a birthday or Christmas present. This will usually be an electric remote controlled car, buggy or truck. These do not require fuel but will of course need charging from time to time. This can be done in any UK three pinned plug. Depending on the size you can get as much as 30 minutes of run time before requiring a further charge.
If you enjoy using RC cars and want to the next level then you could buy a RC Car that requires actual fuel. At this stage your interest is beginning to become a hobby and a great one at that. The fuels for Nitro Cars can be obtained from specialist hobby shops or even websites with petrol buggies for example. It is not as simple as putting in unleaded fuel like you would the family car.
There are adjustments to new nitro RC Cars. These are important as they are not always ready to run like a more common electric RC Car is. The car needs to be tweaked to find the best setting which is where the hobby aspect comes in. There is a needle which needs to be adjusted, which even a change of only an mm can make all the difference between running and running perfectly.
It should also be noted that if you are buying a second hand RC Car you should check all the screws as they may need tightening up if left loose by the previous owner. This can also be the case with new once that has been left loose in production. You must follow the break in procedures exactly once your new RC Car is ready to turn on.
A good way to start using or break in a nitro engine is to run the car engine at a lower level for the first half a dozen fuel tanks. This should be kept to a only a few minutes each time so remember to follow the procedure for doing this to get it right. Make sure the engine shell is removed so that it can get a good flow of air.
Each manufacturer has a different way to break in their design of cars so whether you are buying a Nitro Car, Buggy or truck and no matter what the manufacturer is it is advice you read the instructions carefully and follow them. Then you can enjoy your new hobby safe in the knowledge that hours of fun await you.
